ADSL2 stability problems since connecting to Orcon

Since connecting to Orcon I've been having a few problems with my connection and I'm hoping to get a bit of feedback as to what I can try as I seem to be going around in circles with Orcon's support. There's 2 issues (the first one being most important):

I'm having a lot of connection problems. 9 out of 10 website page loads will fail and I'll have to retry, the same goes for SSH connections (git pushes fail constantly but work on the second attempt) or any other type of connection. I'm a computer programmer who works from home so you can imagine this gets pretty annoying quickly.

My connection speed is 4-5Mb/s slower than my next door neighbour (who's also with Orcon). I've had all the internal wiring replaced (including the phone line on my side of the demarc) and a master splitter installed. Geographically my neighbour is further away from the exchange although I don't know which direction the loop runs. Orcon claim he's probably on a closer exchange or cabinet but from what I can see on the exchange/cabinet map there's only the exchange near us.

These are my line stats, I'm using a Vigor 120:TX Cells: 43484157RX Cells: 931592755TX CRC errs: 0RX CRC errs: 1972Mode: ADSL2+(G.992.5)Up Speed: 979354Down Speed: 9740862SNR Margin: 11Loop Att: 27According to Chorus we're 4-5 years away from getting fibre and we're not planning on moving so anything I can do to improve the speed would be great, but getting a stable connection is the most important thing at the moment.
