Hi, Is anyone else having problems with Orcon and IPv4 on UFB in Auckland? IPv6 seems to be working fine. I can access Google, Geekzone, Facebook, wikipedia etc. But sites which don't have IPv6, e.g. nzherald, twitter don't work. Disabling IPv6 kills all sites. Testing with a site which checks both confirms v6 is working but no v4. Pinging working both via IPv4 and IPv6. But it happens with both HTTPS and HTTP. Also I tried one FTP site (ftp.uni-erlangen.de) on port 21 and aspmx.l.google.com on port 25 and smtp.gmail.comon port 587 with basic raw connection via PuTTY, same difference. Can connect to them on IPv6, on IPv4 it times out. My home phone line via Orcon seems to be fine, but no idea whether it's using IPv6 or v4. Have tried restarting the router but not the ONT. Have tried two different computers and a phone. Smart phone works fine with everything when on mobile data, but not on wifi. Surprised I couldn't find any reports since it's been going on at least since 1 pm I think, is it just me?

Weirdest eMail Problem
I host my domains with KiwiWebHost - who I believe are now run by Orcon.Stable set-up for decade+.The Problem: Amazon Verification Code emails take 2-4 hours (to arrive).Which is a problem - because their V-codes time-expire after 10 minutes (by design). All other emails arrive & depart as you would expect.Even Amazon Order-Confirmation emails arrive fast - before I can switch from browser to Outlook. So - let's say 1-2 seconds for a 'normal' Amazon email. That's from Amazon.com, Amazon.de, Amazon.co.uk - whatever. From Amazon Accounts - whoever sends the V-Codes - a Verification Code email takes 2-4 hours.Experienced this in August, September and now November 2018.Many emails - say 30, over that period. Always hours - not seconds.Let me reiterate - all the following have been stable for years: Amazon account, KWH, email addresses, VF fibre connection, GB LAN (not wifi), Outlook 2010, PC Is this bad karma - voodoo - or is there a non-magic explanation ?

Joining Orcon but concern about phone line
Hi all, I would like to switch from 2degrees to Orcon (fibre), but I am unsure whether the home phone will work due to my house network setup. My fibre point is at the garage and currently I have a fritzbox 7490 in the garage. I then have another Fritzbox in the living room, connected to the fritzbox in thr garage via ethernet. it is the living room's fritzbox that is connected to a phone. Now my concern is if I switch to Orcon, and thet provide a modem router to me. Is it difficult / possible to configure the routers so that the phone will work?Sorry I am not very tech savy... thanks

Port Filtering turned on by Orcon
Hi,It seems Orcon have recently enabled port filtering as a value-add service to improve customer security. That's great but it would have been helpful if they told their customers about this happening. In my case it broke a certificate renewal process that was easily fixed once I realised that Orcon had started blocking ports! It took a little digging to get to that point.Good feature, transparent for most I suppose. Annoying if you are running anything needing access on the ports they have blocked shown below.https://help.orcon.net.nz/hc/en-us/articles/360005168154-Port-Filtering

Orcon Router for Voip Connection
Hello,I recently moved house and finally got a UFB connection, the router from Orcon that came with the contract wifi connection sucked - connections kept dropping, slow when it was connected.I've installed a NetGear router which is working great, was able to play a 3 minute game on my phone from the lounge - which wasn't possible before and Netflix has stopped buffering.Only issue is the Orcon router comes with Voip support, and Im wondering whether I can connect the Orcon router to the Netgear router and connect the Voip settings. Will this work?If so I'd need to disconnect the internet connection from the orcon router, would it be possible to do this and keep voip running. Thanks.

Orcon fibre and ASUS routers
Hi Guys, I picked up an ASUS TR-AC88U because according to this page it works with Orcon fibre.https://www.pbtech.co.nz/ASUSISPSettings#VDFRTAC Followed the instructions on the page above yet I am getting an error in the ASUS web portal "Internet Status: Your ISP's DHCP does not function properly"Triple checked the settings, even updated the firmware but still no luck.Called Orcon who said they can't offer support for another modem but confirmed the settings that I needInternet connection type DHCP option 82 orIPOE IP over ethernetAndVLAN ID 10Priority 0Internet connection type does not give DHCP option 82 that I can see or IPOE which I think maybe Wan connection type? It is set at automatic.VLAN ID and Priotity are correct.Anyone able to get this running for themselves?

This works, but I'd prefer to just use the Orbi.I tried the settings listed on the PBTech page but no joy.Has anyone got it working? Thanks.

Pricing Weirdness when choosing new plan
Ok here is an image so you know what i am on about So Fibre has become available in our neck of the woods so i decided to upgrade my plan. Unfortunately when upgrading me plan it charges me more than the offer (i am sure this happened last time too) The offer for 12 months on fibre 100 is 84.95 however we get charged 89.95 when trying to upgrade our existing plan, if i was being charged that much i may as well get the 24month plan that comes with an appleTV, in fact I would have preferred that plan, but it seems we can't get it despite the terms and conditions saying that it is available on NEW fibre 100 connections which we would be? Any ideas, should i try the call centre and is there normally much of a wait in the queue?

Orcon Landline Setup
Just needing some clarification from Orcon landline users. I have emailed Orcon support but due to the long weekend, still waiting. Currently on fibre with Voda Broadband/Landline(VOIP).From what I've read on their setup page the Router/Modem for fibre broadband + landline requires landline phones to be plugged into the router. Am I missing something?... because if true it seems bonkers, the idea that 3-4 phones distributed through out the house need to be plugged into the Orcon modem instead of using their respected phone-jacks.

Orcon upgrade from ADSL to Fibre
I have just looked at the Orcon address checker and for the first time ever it shows Fibre is available at my address Looking at this forum there are no threads that address the questions I have. I currently have a Genius box (NF4V) with homeline. Some months ago bought a Netgear Orbi box and that is now plugged into the Genius on a LAN port.In looking at the upgrade options on the Orcon website, the implication is that a new contract (with a new minimum contract period) is required. I cannot upgrade the connection type on the same contract I have at present - I start again with a new 12/24 month contract. When I joined Orcon (2006 or so) it was owned by Seeby Woodhouse so I have a major issue with being asked to sign up to a minimum contract period as if I am a new customer. Way back then, one of the reasons for choosing Orcon was that they offered a no-minimum-period option. If Orcon cant offer the seamless upgrade I am looking for then I will look at other ISP options. I would appreciate feedback from anyone who has gone down this path.It would appear from this thread https://www.geekzone.co.nz/forums.asp?forumid=82&topicid=243479 that with Fibre the same basic building-blocks are needed downsteam of the ONT - a Genius box into which the Orbi and phone is conected. Is this still the case? Thanks in anticipation.

NF18ACV - Changing service port 80
Since I have had the new NF18ACV router I am unable to successfully change the HTTP management port on the router. By default it is on port 80. However I want to run a webserver which requires NAT on 80. So I tried changing "management - services control - HTTP LAN from port 80 to 8000 (or also 8080). When I do this I get the login box but then the webui hangs and does not load. I have done a factory defaults reset after each try but still not able to successfully change the service port. Is this an oddity with the Orcon firmware:NF18ACVfirmware: NF18ACV.NC.Vocus-R6B038.EN

Switching to Orcon 1gbps UFB and wanting to upgrade my networking gear to Ubiquiti
Will be switching to Orcon 1gps UFB soon and would like to upgrade my networking gear to Ubiquiti. The gear I was thinking about buying was an Edgerouter 4, Switch and 2 x Unifi AP AC Pro. I have a few questions before I decide to switch to Ubiquiti. 1. What are the Orcon UFB settings for the Edgerouter 4. I know @michaelmurfy has a guide to setup up the Edgerouter but he is with a different internet provider so I thought his settings would not work on Orcon?2. When using Edgerouter 4 on Orcon can you get 900mbps or more for download and 400mbps or more for upload with Orcon 1gbps plan?3. How do guest networks work when setting it up on the Unifi AP AC Pro. Does the guest network get put on a separate network where they cannot connect to my main network devices such as Sonos and Chromecast?

Orcon fibre wifi playing up
On Wednesday my wifi which I use to connect my cell and ipad started playing up. Essentially when I leave the lounge and use either in my room, which I get a full strength signal from, the internet drops and anytime I try to reconnect it gives a incorrect password error. If I stand up and go back to the lounge it reconnects within a couple of moments. Yesterday it started dropping in the lounge and reconnecting moments later.I've done the obvious checks I can think of, checking my password is right (it is), changing wifi channels. Doesn't seem to make a difference. I've used this service & router for at least 3 years I believe, and I use these devices in my room almost daily without issue. If it was just affecting my ipad I would suspect possibly something off with my ipad but since it's causing issues with both devices I suspect the modem/router provided by Orcon.Does anyone know if the router's wifi capabilities can deteriorate over time, like do I need a wifi signal booster (even though I get 3 bars outside my lounge) or do I need to request a new modem/router be sent to me ?Any advice or ideas to further test would be appreciated.

Orcon issues today?
Anyone know what's going on with Orcon today? Reset my router twice as I'm getting 900ms spikes in WoW and when I tried any fighting games on Xbox all my opponents can't stay connected, it lags out. I'm in the Unsworth Heights area so might just be local, or it could be my router is actually dying after the wifi issues the last few days. Anyone else having issues?
